Ed Davey Promises Action on Energy Market Abuse

Energy regulators Ofgem and the Financial Services Authority are investigating claims by a City whistleblower of price fixing in Britain’s gas market,distorting wholesale prices given to them by price reporting companies.

Energy minister Ed Davey has promised action against any individuals or companies found to have manipulated wholesale gas prices in the UK.

"I see it as my job to protect consumers, not least the most vulnerable who can suffer the most when markets are abused."

Davey said “At a time when people and companies are struggling with high energy bills, the country would expect us to take firm action if these allegations prove true, and we will”
